THE CONTEMPORARY SINGERS AND THE GOSPEL MASS
On Sunday morning, March 21, 2010, during the Worship Service, the St. Martin's Contemporary Singers stood on holy ground and there were angels all around. (Exodus 3:5).
The Singers have been willing to diligently rehearse for many weeks and they were committed to giving the best of themselves in thanks to Christ who gave His best for us all.
Although our performance lasted only 30 minutes, the hard work saw results in the development of a choral group who sings better musically, technically, spiritually, and most importantly, a choir that is able to communicate to the listener. The Contemporary Singers have become the Church Choir they deserve to be.....and we have lots of fun also.
Our appreciation goes to our anonymous financial donors who contributed so generously to our presentation, to Stephanie Stark for the beautiful poster advertising the Gospel Mass, to our men folk members who did all the tech work in the booth and who with the women moved the organ, the piano, the hand bell equipment, and the risers. WHEW ! Many thanks to Monika for her wonderful lunches after the Saturday rehearsals and to Fay Hood for her always delicious cookies. And how blessed we were to have our special vocalists-----Barbara, Freddy, Donald, Dwayne and our very own Renee.
Special thanks to Steve, our drummer, who made us sound so good. In closing, I'd like to share with you a comment made to me by a long time St. Martin's member....."The Contemporary Singers and Gospel Mass touched my heart from the very first note to the very last note of the work !" Wow ! That makes all of our efforts worth it !
To God Be The Glory.....Priscilla
